This dining guide is divided into six main sections: Inside Hyatt, inside the Jacksonville Landing, near the Hyatt, across the river (including San Marco), at the Beaches and special menu restaurants. Many of the restaurants have different hours for the weekends and weekdays or only serve dinner. Please call ahead for hours and/or reservations. Inside the Hyatt:
The conference hotel has a number of dining options. Below is a brief description of each one, but more information is available on the Hyatt Regency web site.
Einstein Bros. Bagel Shop ($)
Einsteins offers bagels, sandwiches, coffee, smoothies, and salads.
Trellises Restaurant ($$)
This main hotel restaurant offeres breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a breakfast buffet some mornings.
Jaxx Sports Bar ($)
Jaxx offers appetizers and sandwiches
Currents Lounge ($)
Next to Trellises, Currents offers a Starbucks Cafe' in the morning and light fare throughout the day.
Plaza III Steakhouse ($$$)
The Plaza III, known for its high quality steaks, offers lunch and dinner inside or out on a patio overlooking the river.
In the Jacksonville Landing, just west of the Hyatt:
The American Cafe' ($$)
Locatedon the second level of the Landing, The American Cafe serves menu items such as BBQ ribs, salmon, pizza, steaks, burgers, and salads (904-353-4503).
Fuddruckers ($)
Scheduled to open soon on the first level of the Landing, Fuddruckers specializes mostly in hamburgers, the
"World's Greatest" according to their own website. (no phone number available yet).
Vito's Italian Cafe' ($$)
Located on the first level with seating inside or outside, Vito's specializes in Italian and Mediterranean cuisine (904-355-3002).
The Twisted Martini ($$)
Located on the first level of the Landing, the award-winning Twisted Martini offers tapas-styled appetizers and other menu items. (904-353-8023)
Mongo's Flat Hot Grill ($$)
Located on the second level with outdoor seating that overlooks the river, Mongo's offers "interactive dining". You fill your bowl with beef, chicken, seafood, pasta, or vegetables. Then you choose a sauce before handing it all over to a Mongo griller who will prepare your meal for you. You can even finish off the meal with their "make your own" s'mores for dessert (904-665-0123).
Bourbon Bayou ($$)
Located on the first level of the Landing, Bourbon Bayou brings you Louisiana Cajun style cuisine. Relive APLS 2000 with the taste of New Orleans (904-674-6714).
Koja Sushi ($$)
Located on the second level of the Landing, Koja offers fresh fish and is known for having one of the widest selections of sushi in Jacksonville. (904-350-9911).
Hooters ($$)
Located on the first level of the Landing, Hooters provides a great place to watch the boats go by on the river as you enjoy those famous hot wings (904-356-5400).
Dona Maria's ($$)
Located on the first level of the Landing, Dona Maria provides Mexican fare. Seating is available inside or outside overlooking the river. (904-598-2696).
Benny's Steak and Seafood ($$)
Located on the first level of the Landing, Benny's offers fresh seafood and angus beef steaks. Seating is available in or outside.
An Apple a Day Deli ($)
Located on the second level in the Landing Food Court, Apple a Day serves sandwiches, salads, croissants, and smoothies (904-353-9191).
Calvin's Cajun Express ($)
Located on the second level in the Landing Food Court, Calvin's offers cajun fast food (904-354-5656)
Bourbon Express ($)
Located on the second level in the Landing Food Court, Bourbon Express offers Asian fast food (904-30-1013)
Coastal Cookies ($)
Located on the second level in the Landing Food Court, stop by Coast Cookies for either a post or pre-lunch treat (904-353-3232).
Flamers ($)
Located on the second level in the Landing Food Court, Flamers offers hamburgers and chicken meals (904-354-7951)
Great Wraps ($)
Located on the second level in the Landing Food Court, you can get a variety of pita sandwiches from Great Wraps (904-354-7876).
Rio Burrito ($)
Located on the second level in the Landing Food Court, Rio Burrito offers made to order burritos (904-354-7951).
Sakkio Japan ($)
Located on the second level in the Landing Food Court, Sakkio's specialty is their Chicken Teriyaki (904-353-1351)
Sbarro ($)
Located on the second level in the Landing Food Court, Sbarro offers classic Italian "mall food" including pizzas, lasagna, and calzones (904-355-6999).
Starbucks ($)
Located on the first level of the Landing, we're guessing no one needs an introduction to this world-famous coffee stand/supplier of energy to graduate students and faculty alike.
Not in the Landing, but near the Hotel:
The Burrito Gallery ($)
Located at 21 East Adams Street, this eclectic restaurant is about five blocks northwest of the hotel (904-598-2922)
Worman's Bakery and Delicatessen ($)
A Jacksonville tradition since 1923, Worman's is located about 1 mile northwest of the Hyatt on 204 Broad Street (904-354-5702).
Southern Paradise ($)
A cozy diner that serves Southern-style breakfast and lunch. It is located at 229 W. Forsyth Street (904-358-1082).
Juliette's Bistro ($$)
Located inside the Omni at 245 Water Street this restaurant specializes in Florida cuisine, especially fish and seafood. (904-355-6664).

River City Brewing Company ($$)
River City, which specializes in seafood, steaks, and pasta, is Jacksonville's Five Star Riverfront Restaurant and Microbrewery. The restaurant overlooks the St. Johns River on the west end of the Southbank Riverwalk (835 Museum Circle). In addition, the restaurant, a full service bar and deck offers daily happy hours and entertainment on the weekends. The water taxi makes a stop right in front of River City (904-398-2099)
Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse ($$$$)
Ruth's Chris Steak House offers U.S. Prime steaks, seafood, and New Orleans-inspired appetizers. The restaurant overlooks the St. Johns River and is located on the Southbank Riverwalk inside the Crowne Plaza Hotel (904-396-6200)
Morton’s Steakhouse ($$$$)
The Wine Cellar ($$$)
The Wine Cellar is located on the Southbank of the Riverwalk at 1314 Prudential Drive and they feature rack of lamb, beef, pasta and fresh fish daily. They also have an extensive wine list (904-398-3964)
Chart House ($$$)
The unique design of the Chart House on the Southbank of the Riverwalk (1501 Riverplace Boulevard) offers a wonderful view of the St. Johns River. The restauarant serves a variety of menu options, especially fresh seafood The water taxi makes a stop right in front of The Chart House (904-396-6876).
Across the River in the San Marco Area
Matthew’s Restaurant ($$$)
Located across the river from the Hyatt in the San Marco area at 2107 Hendricks Avenue, Matthew's is a great place to go for an award winning menu that integrates Southern, Mediterranean, Asian, and Middle Eastern cuisine. (904-396-5222).
Layla's of San Marco ($$)
Located in San Marco at 2016 Hendricks Avenue, this Middle Eastern influenced restaurant and bar are known for their imported beers/frangelico combinations and belly dancers. They also have an open Hookah and Cigar patio (904-398-4610).
Pom's Thai Bistro ($$$)
Located in San Marco at
1974 San Marco Boulevard this upscale restaurant with a Chilean sea bass in an herbaceous green curry and coconut milk sauce signature dish (904-338-0269).
Bistro A.I.X. Restaurant and Lounge ($$$)
Located in San Marco at
1440 San Marco Boulevard, A.I.X.(pronounced "X") serves seasonal Mediterranean and French-inspired cuisine (904-398-9386).
The Loop ($)
This Jacksonville-based chain is best known for their Loop burgers (including portabella mushroom "burgers") and pizzas (California and Chicago style). They have one location in San Marco at 2014 San Marco Boulevard (904-399-5667).
At the Beach
Old Siam Restaurant ($$)
If you head out to the beach, Old Siam is a great place to get authentic Thai cuisine. Don't let the outside of this restaurant fool you, it is located at
1716 Third Street North in a fairly non-descript strip mall, but inside it is quite elegant (904-247-7763).
Ragtime Tavern and Seafood Grill ($$)
A local favorite located only a block from the beach located at 207 Atlantic Boulevard, Ragtime offers mostly cajun cuisine and they also have handcrafted beers (904-241-7877).
Roy's Jacksonville Beach ($$$)
One of the Roy's chain of Hawaiian fusion cuisine restaurants, Roy's at Jax Beach is located at
2400-101 South 3rd Street (904-241-7697).
Sticky Fingers ($$)
A southern barbecue and ribs chain, this restaurant is located at
363 Atlantic Blvd., Suite 1. One of about 20 Sticky Fingers, this chain is well-loved by Jax Beach goers (904-241-7427).
Culhane's Irish Pub ($$)
Owned by a group of sisters who grew up in Ireland, this pub offers authentic Irish food on this side of the Atlantic Ocean at 967 Atlantic Boulevard (904-249-9595).
Lubi's ($)
Famous for their hot peppers and hot sub sandwiches, this Jacksonville original restaurant will even ship their pepper sauce to you if you find you can't live without it. Their beaches location is at 500 North 3rd Street (A1A) (904-270-1007).
Special Dietary Needs
Most restaurants listed have vegetarian dishes on their menus or will provide them upon request. The Heartworks Gallery and Cafe at 800 Lomax Street is an all vegan bakery and vegetarian restaurant. This restaurant is about 2.5 miles from the hotel on the same side of the river in the Five Points area of Jacksonville.
According to Jacksonville's Jewish Federation there are no certified Kosher restaurants in Jacksonville. Several catering companies may be able to provide boxed meals. Please let Eve Brank (ebrank@ufl.edu) know prior to the conference if you would like assistance in arranging this.
