Setting Up Posters
Posters should be set up in the hour prior to the poster session (i.e., from 5:30-6:30). Each poster board is 4' x 8' (landscape), and is equipped with velcro or push pins.

Welcome

The 2010 American Psychology-Law Society Conference will be held March 18-20, 2010 in Vancouver, Canada. Vancouver is located on the west coast of Canada, and is approximately 2 hours north of Seattle (120 miles/190 km). The city is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the mountains.
Please remember that PASSPORTS are now needed for travel from the United States to Canada.

Vancouver is located on the west coast of Canada. It is very close to Seattle and has a similar climate. The city is a popular tourist destination and is the host of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games (February 12-28, 2010) and Paralympic Winter Games (March 12-21, 2010). Map of downtown Vancouver...
Olympic and Paralympic Events
A number of Olympic/Paralympic events will still be running at the time of the conference. Many of these events are a very close distance from the conference hotel and many events are free:
- Go on a free zipline trek above the downtown core (for the brave!) (10 minute walk from conference hotel)
- Attend a paralympic game, such as skiing, biathalon, ice sledge hockey, or curling (tickets still available for some events)
- View the Olympic Cauldron at Coal Harbour
- Skate at the free outdoor rink at Robson Square (15 minute walk from hotel)
- Visit free pavilions, including BC Pavilion located at the Vancouver Art Gallery, Canada’s Northern House, and Canada Pavilion (15-30 minute walks from hotel)
- Visit the Vancouver Art Gallery for free, including the da Vinci exhibit (15 minute walk from hotel)
- Watch LiveCity events and performances, such as bigscreen viewing of paralympic events (15-30 minute walk from hotel)
Things to Do
Some of the activities that visitors to Vancouver often enjoy include:
- Running, walking, cycling, or hiking through Stanley Park (5 minute walk from conference hotel)
- Shopping on Robson Street (5 minute walk from conference hotel), or in Yaletown or Gastown (20-30 minute walk from hotel)
- Strolling Denman Street and English Bay (10 minute walk from hotel)
- Visiting Granville Island
- Visiting the Vancouver Aquarium (approximately 20 minute walk from hotel)
- Skiing at Whistler/Blackcomb
- Visiting Capilano Suspension Bridge or taking the gondola up Grouse Mountain
Weather
Vancouver has a much milder climate than the rest of Canada. In March, it is early spring in Vancouver and the weather is still cool. The average temperature in March is 50F/ 10C (average daily high). Rainfall is fairly frequent. More information...
Dining Out and Nightlife
There are a wide variety of restaurants in Vancouver. Many restaurants feature fresh local seafood, fushion dishes, and Japanese, Thai, Greek, Mediterranean, Italian, and East Indian cuisine. There are a number of restaurants close by the conference hotel. Also, there are lots of pubs, Martini bars, sports bars, and nightclubs in downtown Vancouver. More information...

Continuing Education Credit for Pre-Conference Workshops
Continuing education credit for the workshops will be provided by the American Academy of Forensic Psychology (AAFP). AAFP is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. AAFP maintains responsibility for this program and its contents. Participants receive certificates documenting either three or seven hours of continuing education for each workshop attended in its entirety.

Online Version of Conference Program
The online version of the conference program is now available for review on the all-academic website. From the menu banner on the left-hand side of the webpage you can "browse the program". This function will allow you to view all scheduled events for each day of the conference. From the daily schedule click on a session title in order to access paper titles, presenters and abstracts for that session. The "search the program" function will allow you to search the entire conference program by your first and last name. Continuing Education Credit for Conference Sessions
We are pleased to be able to offer within-conference Continuing Education (CE) Credit for some of the sessions at this year's conference through CONCEPT (Consolidated Continuing Education and Professional Training). Hotel

The conference hotel is the Westin Bayshore, the official hotel of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The Westin Bayshore is centrally located in downtown Vancouver.
It is located next to Stanley Park in the Coal Harbour area, and is a close walk to several major shopping and restaurant districts.

Travel/Passports
Americans travelling to Canada are now REQUIRED TO CARRY A PASSPORT. Visitors from other countries also require a passport. Passports typically take 4-6 weeks to process so be sure to plan in advance. Link to U.S. passport information...
Vancouver International Airport
The Vancouver International Airport is located approximately 12 mi/19 km from the conference hotel. You can travel from the airport to the hotel by:
- Taxi - On average, the standard fare from the airport to downtown Vancouver is approximately $30-35.
- Public transportation - A skytrain connects the airport and the downtown region. Link to public transportation...
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
Some visitors may choose to fly to Seattle rather than Vancouver in order to save money, as domestic flights are sometimes less expensive. From the Sea-Tac Airport, you can:
- Take a bus - Quick Coach offers a bus service from the Sea-Tac Airport directly to the conference hotel in Vancouver. The bus runs approximately 7 times daily and takes approximately 5 hours. You should reserve in advance.
- Rent a car - The drive from Seattle to Vancouver takes approximately 3-4 hours depending on the line-ups at the border. When catching a return flight, it would be advisable to give yourself some extra time, as there can be long waits at the border.

Student Volunteers
If you are interested in being a student volunteer for the AP-LS 2010 Annual Conference, please contact Kathy Gaskey (apls@ec.rr.com). Similar to past conferences, volunteers will be providing assistance with the conference registration area and/or monitoring concurrent sessions throughout the conference. We are asking for a commitment of 6-8 hours of volunteer time. As a thank you for volunteering, student volunteers will get free registration for the conference. If you are already receiving free registration as a student first author, we will waive the registration costs for one of the 1/2 day pre-conference workshops and offer half price registration ($45.00) for a full day pre-conference workshop.
