Description of Work

Central Regional Hospital, a state psychiatric hospital located in Butner, NC, seeks a Senior Psychologist I for the Forensic Unit. This is a permanent full time position. The primary duties for this forensic psychologist position are to perform forensic evaluations of capacity to proceed and criminal responsibility. Evaluations are done secondary to court orders. Most evaluations are done as outpatients, with some done on an inpatient basis. Psychological and forensic testing are often required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Thorough and detailed knowledge of psychological testing. Knowledge of Forensic assessment instruments, including tests of malingering. Highly developed skills in diagnostic and forensic interviewing. Strongly prefer previous experience in Forensic Evaluations. Prefer formal training in Forensics from internship, post-doctoral supervision. Doctoral dgeree in clinical or counseling psychology preferred.

Training and Experience Requirements

Doctoral degree in psychology and two years of professional psychological experience, one of which must be postdoctoral. Refer to the law for specifics regarding experience requirements. Minimum Training and Experience for a Trainee Appointment - Doctoral degree in psychology. Necessary Special Qualifications - One must fulfill all requirements for licensure in North Carolina as a licensed psychologist under provisions specified by the Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90-270). ADA Physical Requirements will be discussed during the interview. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
