Central State Hospital (CSH), a state-operated, maximum-security forensic psychiatric hospital, is actively recruiting for a Treatment Team Psychologist. This position is attached to a unit of adult clients with concurrent legal issues (i.e., insanity acquittees, persons undergoing forensic evaluation or restoration of competence to stand trial, mandatory parolees). The psychologist will be part of a multidisciplinary team that coordinates and monitors progress of treatment goals and activities, and will also be responsible for completing comprehensive assessments of risk among persons newly acquitted by reason of insanity. Opportunities for supervision of practicum students in psychology exist, and pre-trial evaluations of competency and sanity may also be undertaken provided current licensure and previous forensic assessment experience.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong clinical skills (in both group and individual psychotherapy), have familiarity with a variety of personality and cognitive assessment tools, and be proficient in communicating findings both verbally and in writing. Previous forensic training/experience is preferred but not required. Virginia Clinical Psychologist License preferred or licensure in another state eligible for transfer to Virginia as a Clinical Psychologist preferred; graduate of APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with the ability to develop and present professional curricula is preferred. Bilingual applicant is a plus.
Salary: Unlicensed $58,742 / Licensed $61,092 (min)
