Job Description
The Chicago School of Professional Psychology invites applications for the position of Department Chair, Department of Forensic Psychology.
The Chicago School is the nation's oldest and largest graduate university focused exclusively on psychology and related behavioral sciences. As a professional school, our focus is not strictly on research and theory, but on preparing students to become outstanding practitioners, providing direct service to help individuals and organizations thrive.
The Position:
The Forensic department has been vital to the health of The Chicago
School of Professional Psychology since the inception of an MA degree in
2003; the doctoral program welcomed their first students in 2009. We are
seeking an outstanding candidate to fill the role of Department Chair.
The successful candidate will be responsible for making recommendations to the Dean of Academic Affairs for recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and promotion of faculty, as well as department development and budget management. The chair is responsible for providing visionary leadership for the academic direction and fiscal soundness of the department.
Duties include curriculum quality and development, scheduling, preparation for programmatic accreditation, assessment of student learning and program improvement, creation and management of budget, supervision of faculty and other department administrators. All faculty members report to the chair of their departments regarding the execution of faculty responsibilities. The department chair is responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and improving the performance of all faculty members.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must be a licensed psychologist whose credentials
and expertise are consistent with the mission of the department and the
institution. Candidates should have experience in teaching and academic
administration at the post-secondary level as well as a clinical background.
