Juvenile Justice Clinical Director
The Cook County Juvenile Court Clinic is seeking applicants for the position of Juvenile Justice Clinical Director. The Cook County Juvenile Court Clinic (CCJCC) is part of the Circuit Court of Cook County, and assists Cook County’s Juvenile Court with clinical information needs that arise in juvenile justice and child protection proceedings. CCJCC also is affiliated with Northwestern University in Chicago.
The Clinical Director is part of CCJCC’s management team, and is responsible for training and supervising staff psychologists to conduct court-ordered forensic evaluations of minors in delinquency proceedings. Forensic evaluations, which the Clinical Director also may conduct, are used by the court to assist in decisions concerning sentencing, competency or fitness to stand trial, competency to waive Miranda, and other legal issues. The Clinical Director participates in educational presentations on mental health issues for court personnel and in CCJCC’s program development which includes research and dissemination activities related to CCJCC’s work. The Clinical Director also is responsible for master’s level staff who are assigned to courtrooms as clinical liaisons for judges and lawyers in Juvenile Justice courtrooms, and for supervising post-doctoral fellows in forensic psychology.
Qualifications: Candidates must be licensed, doctoral level psychologists with a minimum of 3-5 years of formal training and clinical experience in forensic criminal evaluation. Candidates should have experience working with adolescents, strong assessment/interviewing skills, and knowledge of adolescent development. ABPP Board Certification or Certification-eligibility in Forensic Psychology is preferred.
