Innovative Learning Professionals located in Des Moines, IA, is currently accepting applications for a post-doctoral fellowship opportunity. The fellowship will focus predominantly on court-ordered assessment, though opportunities will be available for additional training as well. Much of the work and training will focus on adolescents and children, though there will also be opportunities for experiences with adults too.
Opportunities in assessment will include evaluations for juvenile court, learning disability and attention deficit assessments, and neuropsychological screenings. The largest portion of the fellowship is devoted to evaluations for juvenile court services (as they provide the funding for the position). Work for juvenile court services includes forensic assessments (e.g., risk assessments, mental health assessments, competency assessments, and sexual offender assessments) as well as providing consultation and psychological guidance on individual cases to the juvenile court officers. There will also be time devoted to learning psychoeducational assessments in a private practice setting.
In addition to learning and conducting psychological assessments, there will be opportunities to continue to develop ongoing therapy skills with children, adolescents, and/or adults. Finally, if desired, opportunities will be provided to become familiar with Quantitative EEG assessments, neurofeedback, and biofeedback.
The Innovative Learning Professionals Psychology Fellowship will pay $35,000 with 2 weeks of PTO time (vacation and sick leave). Workman’s compensation, professional liability insurance, unemployment coverage, paid holidays, and a stipend toward a health insurance premium are also provided. It is anticipated that the post-doc would begin the first of September, though the time-line is negotiable depending on the demands of the pre-doctoral internship.
If interested in the fellowship position, please provide a letter of interest, a copy of your vita, graduate transcript, a copy of a past psychological assessment report (appropriately edited to protect confidentiality) and a minimum of three letters of reference (including one from a faculty member of the home department, a member of the internship training staff, and a professional of your choosing, along with their contact information) to David G. Beeman, Ph.D., Innovative Learning Professionals, 2130 Grand Avenue, Suite B, Des Moines, IA 50312 by January 15, 2012. Alternatively, application and materials may be provided via fax [(515) 270-1647] or email (davidbeeman@qwestoffice.net). Any questions may be addressed to Dr. Beeman at (515) 279-3033 (direct line) or via the above email.
