The Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) is seeking an Assessment Psychologist to become part of the team at a state-of-the-art facility for the comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and management of civilly committed sexual offenders.  MSOP is a cognitive-behavioral program with an emphasis on risk reduction, relapse prevention, and client access to medical, psychiatric, vocational, educational, and recreational services.  This is a great opportunity for an independent, highly competent, specialized psychologist to join an enthusiastic, dedicated team working with a complex population.

The Minnesota Sex Offender Program has recently undergone exciting changes with the establishment of a research and assessment unit with an internal assessment lab for polygraphs, plethysmographs, and Abel assessments.  As MSOP continues to grow, it remains a leader among sex offender treatment programs in the country and offers the chance to be part of a world-class organization that is committed to its staff, clients, and the community.

Job Description:
As a valued member of MSOP, provide expertise and leadership in the specialized field of sex offender treatment, assessment, and research.  Conduct risk assessments, psychosexual assessments, psychological assessments, and research.  Deliver consultation and testimony to the Minnesota Supreme Court of Appeals Panel and Special Review Board hearings.  Give technical consultation and direction to a broad spectrum of multidisciplinary treatment teams, clinicians, the courts, and other care providers in the field of sex offender treatment and assessment.  Provide clinical supervision to unlicensed psychologists, along with education experiences, mentoring, and training for unlicensed psychology staff and psychological trainees.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical psychology;
  • Licensed as a psychologist by the Minnesota Board of Psychology (LP);
  • Eligible for specialized certification in Forensic Psychology (1,000 hours of supervised experience in Forensic Psychology obtained either by completion of a full-time post-doctoral training program in Forensic Psychology OR four years of post-doctoral experience);
  • Knowledge of mental health case law.
