The Forensic Evaluation Service of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health has a job opening for a forensic psychologist. The position involves conducting various types of forensic evaluations on adults and juveniles as well as serving as an expert witness. The primary types of evaluations are adjudicative competence, criminal responsibility, and sexual predator commitment. The Forensic Evaluation Service has a collegial atmosphere and is located in Columbia, the state capitol, which has mild winters, a relatively low cost of living, the University of South Carolina, accessibility to mountains and beaches, and a metropolitan population of about 500,000. Applicants must have a doctorate in psychology from a fully accredited program, completed a fully accredited internship, and be licensed or license-eligible in South Carolina. Applicants should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as training and experience in forensic psychology. The salary is commensurate with experience and the position includes the state employee benefits package.
