Assistant Professor

Department of Psychology and Social Behavior and
Department of Criminology, Law, and Society
 University of California, Irvine

The University of California, Irvine is seeking an Assistant Professor whose research and expertise relates to the area of psychology and law, broadly defined. We will consider psychologists whose work is relevant to law or crime as well as socio-legal scholars whose work is grounded in or relevant to psychology. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and applicants who are psychologists must have expertise in a core area of psychology (e.g., social, developmental, cognitive).

The successful candidate will join either the Department of Psychology & Social Behavior or the Department of Criminology, Law & Society; successful candidates may also seek a split (shared) appointment. These departments share a vibrant Center for Psychology and Law (see: http://socialecology.uci.edu/research/psychlaw/) comprising faculty whose research addresses theoretically rich questions that have implications for law, legal policy, or legal theory. Applicants must have a strong record of success conducting rigorous, theory-based research, and excellent potential as teachers and mentors. Evidence of potential to secure extramural funding is also desirable.

Review of applications begins on December 1, 2011, and will continue until an appropriate candidate is found. Please direct questions about this position to William Thompson (william.thompson@uci.edu) or Jodi Quas (jquas@uci.edu). Application materials must be submitted electronically (please refer to the following website for instructions: http://socialecology.uci.edu/faculty-positions). Candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of research and teaching interests, representative publications, and arrange to have three letters of recommendation uploaded electronically.
