he Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services (DBHDS) is seeking a psychologist to serve on the treatment team at the Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR).  VCBR is a behavioral treatment center securely housing and treating civilly committed sex offenders.  VCBR is within a short driving distance to the Richmond and Washington metro areas, the mountains of the Shenandoah, and numerous beaches on the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean.  The area enjoys mild climate and provides for a variety of cultural, historic, sports, and recreational venues.

 Purpose of the position:  To conduct initial comprehensive psychological evaluations for treatment planning purposes, provide treatment to the residents, and serve as a consultant to the treatment teams regarding psychological issues. 

The successful candidate will have experience with forensic populations, as well as experience assessing personality, intellectual ability and learning disabilities.  A doctoral degree from a regionally accredited university or school of psychology is mandatory. It is preferred that the applicant have experience treating sexual offenders, and  be licensed or license eligible in Virginia; and Sex Offender Treatment Provider Certified or eligible.

 Salary is negotiable and commensurate with education, experience, and market factors within Pay Band 5. A criminal history background investigation, employment references, and drug testing will be completed for the final candidates.
