Behavioral Researcher Position

    The Criminal Intelligence Division, Directorate of Intelligence, Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Headquarters is hiring an expert in behavioral research at the GS-12/13 level ($69,764-$107,854).  The incumbent will serve as a staff expert in social science research methods. Position duties will include research design, protocol development, statistical analysis, manuscript preparation, and oral presentation.  Specifically, the incumbent will develop and design research projects, lead a team of data collectors, oversea the research process, conduct statistical analyses, author research findings, and present findings to a variety of audiences (e.g., Law Enforcement Community, Dept of Navy/Dept of Defense Community, Senior Leadership, and professional conferences).  Research areas will primarily involve criminal behavior and crime trends, but may be extended to other NCIS missions.  This position requires knowledge of behavioral research statistical methods and experience utilizing statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS).

    Although the position is advertised as "Research Sociologist" and asks for experience working with "Criminal Sociology," we are accepting applications from the broader social sciences and encourage Social, Clinical, Experimental, and Forensic Psychologists to apply.  The closing date is September 2, 2008.
