forensic psychologist position
The Forensic Evaluation Service of the South Carolina Dept. of Mental Health has a job opening for a forensic psychologist. The position primarily involves evaluations of adjudicative competence and criminal responsibility, but may also include expert testimony, diagnostic consultations, other types of forensic evaluations (including disability, competence to be executed, and commitment of sexual offenders), forensic psychological research, treatment of forensic patients, and supervision of pre-doctoral interns. The Evaluation Service has a collegial atmosphere and low staff turnover. The job is located in Columbia, the state capitol, which has mild winters, a relatively low cost of living, the University of South Carolina, and a metropolitan population of about 500,000. Applicants must have a doctorate in psychology from a fully accredited program, successfully completed a fully accredited internship, and be license-eligible in South Carolina. Applicants should also have excellent writing skills as well as training and experience in forensic psychology. The salary is commensurate with experience and the position includes the state employee benefits package.
